Drop NET_CONF user in a Oracle 8.1.7 database ?

Greetings,

We are about to upgrade our database from 8.1.6.0 -> 8.1.7.1 and I recognized that we have a net_conf user with dba privilege.

I have seen in some docs that this user comes with a SqlNet configuration installation, but do we really need this user now ? What does the user do by the way ?

I have taken over the job from another DBA so I have no knowledge about the net_conf user.
