Sorry,

To clarify:

We already have 9iAS on the server and it is running an in-house created application (mostly jsp).

my queries:

  1. Would it be ok to add-on oracle portal or at what point would things degenerate?
  2. Also, for portal, is it completely necessary for the portal database to sit on the application server box?
  3. Is it feasible to run everything on one unix box (RH 6.2), 1G RAM, and one fast processor?

I'm not a systems person so i apologize in advance if my specs don't make sense but I'm hoping you all can enlighten me.

Thanks again,

AM

Hi,

Does anyone have any real world experience with running oracle portal and 9iAS together on a unix box (RH 6.2)? My company is considering using portal and we currently are running 9iAS and I am trying to spec out the pros and cons. How feasible is it for both portal and 9iAS to be running on the same box?

The box has 1GB of RAM and pII (2x400mhz) but we will probably move to one processor (>800mhz) due to cost (there are >60 employees in the company).
