Out of Memory error, Please help

All,

Solaris 8, Oiracle 8i.

I'm trying to do a new install, I keep getting this out of memory error. I have more than enough ram, 1012 mb. I get this when I run the first part of the database creation script, snyperrun.sh

SVRMGR> SVRMGR> Connected.
SVRMGR> ORA-27102: out of memory
SVR4 Error: 22: Invalid argument

SVRMGR>      2>      3>      4>      5>      6>      7>      8>
9>     10> CREATE DATABASE "snyper"

*
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
SVRMGR> Disconnected.
SVRMGR> SVRMGR> Server Manager complete.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
