Hello All,
shareplex i heard is a good product from quest which can be used for replicating an oracle db.

it probably does a good job when you want to replicate the whole database which is not too active :)

how is the experience of ppl with this product ? Have it been reliable ? Is support a nightmare ?

Want to seek opinion about the use of shareplex from quest as described below :

But the purpose for which some 'solutions designer' here want to use it for maitaining a database which will store total 6yrs of a data in target db( 4 yrs old + 2 yrs current) and source db will contain only current 2 yrs worth of data.
so we are going to replicate whole source db but target will contain lot more data. Is some one using shareplex for this kind of operation ? just like in snapshots, if we have a table corupted on target and have to rebuild the snapshot.. what happens to 4 yrs of extra data in target. several solutions are possible. but here schema owner is also same. I personally do not like the idea as it will be too much maitenance. and the question i raised above still stands.

Thx in advance for your help Received on Mon Feb 18 2002 - 09:44:20 CST
