Short answer: No.

Slightly longer answer is that if you have the enterprise edition, you can use log_archive_dest_1, log_archive_dest_2 etc parameters to achieve something along the lines you want: you set up locations as either MANDATORY or OPTIONAL. If an optional fills up, the system doesn't come grinding to a halt. You're still stuffed if its the mandatory that gets filled... and if (as is likely) both sorts of destinations are of the same size, then there's little real point, since when the optional keels over under the strain, it's likely that the mandatory one will have done so, too.

But as for failing over or alternating between drives... nope. Maybe some hardware gizmo might do it. Maybe you could get seriously clever with shell scripts or pipes. But I doubt it.

A more realistic suggestion is: buy some bigger hard disks. An equally realistic suggestion would be to enquire whether there's anything about this super-job you run that could be improved so as to produce less redo in the first place: can it be done with something switched to nologging, for example?

Regards
HJR
