Well, I'm using 8.1.7 SQL*Net (okay Net8 if you insist) client to talk to 7.3.4 and 8.1.5 from the one box and have Oracle 8i Lite client (not sure which version) on another box that talks to the same set of databases (including 8.1.7 ones).

And no - do _not_ ask why we have such a spicy set of database versions... unless you want to see me foaming at the mouth and waving my lead pipe.
