We reinstalled ORACLE 8i on Solaris. But we didn't recreate the user ORACLE before reinstallation. During installation, I set the SID with NEWSID. But after installation, I found the ORACLE_SID environment variable is still the old one (OLDSID).

One insteresting is I found when I try to connect this server from remote client using NEWSID, I successed. That means the listener process never care the ORACLE_SID environment. Why?

Thanks in advance! Received on Sun Feb 10 2002 - 10:07:54 CST
