Thanks for the good info so far.



Following additional info can be usefull:



    
  
  1.   The choice for "unix" platform and Oracle-database is
corporate-decision, no discussions possible.

  
  2.   Choice for storage is still open, but project is aiming for
a SAN-solution where backups can be taken by breaking 3-way mirror,
re-connect 3rd mirror to separate server, and running backup from there.
