I think in my opinion a DBA should now at least :
- SQL - PL/SQL - some sort of shell (Korn, C shell) - knowledge of some imperative or OO language (doesn't matter what)
All the rest depends on what your developers are doing and what you are
running.
For example : we use a lot of IAS9i stuff, warehouse builder and workflow.
These products rely heavely on java - inside the DB aswell as outside ... so
for
me Java is almost as important as PL/SQL ... and just knowing how to install
isn't
going to cut it for me.
The question is also - is the DBA actually responsible for IAS9i ...
