Sure there is, did you try an explain plan to get the execution plan for each statement or check indexes on involved tables? I didn't tried it out, but it would expect such/some problems, if i'd use queries tuned for others databases. It seems oracle optimizer has some trouble with it and sybase not, so use hints or better rewrite the queries.
