I am trying to upgrade a databse from 7.2.3. to 9i, my DBA knowledge is limited and although I have worked out a method feel sure there must be an easier way. I would appreciate it someone could point me in the right direction.

When I export the 7.2.3 dbase I cannot put it in one file because it is too big. So I broke it down into FULL=Y with ROWS=N and two files by owner containing the data.

If I import the full db, in order to import the user data I have to use IGNORE=Y but this causes the user table triggers to fire messing up the data.

If I only import user system from the full export before importing the user exports it nearly works but I cannot get SYNONYMS owned by PUBLIC (and possibly other essential info which I have not discovered).

So the only way I can find to do it is to do the full import. Then drop the user tables, then import the user data. Received on Tue Jan 29 2002 - 10:04:09 CST
