Oracle Forms on Public Internet

Is it really practical to deploy Oracle Forms generated Applets as business critical applications over the public Internet - given the problems associated with browser configuration, downloading of base classes (and application), security issues suchas opening additional ports on firewall and granting the application execution rights, JVM compatibility etc.

Has anyone done this successfully?

Are there any publicly accessible site that demonstrate this?
