Nathan is quite right.
If ur database is not configured in archive log then forget about
recovery. If u have a level0 backup and have archive logs till then
then u dont even need level1 backup. What level1 does then is another
question? It recovers fast.
What archive log all does is that it takes on-line redo logs and
archive them. It takes one member from each group and archives it.
During recovery it is not asking for online redo logs.It is asking for
the archive logs which u have missed by putting the database in no
archive log.
