Oracle application response time degrades until listner is restarted

We have a fairly large Oracle 8.1.6 based application for which
performance degrades to 20-40 second response time over a matter of
days. If we restart the listner response time returns to 1-2 seconds.



This is running on a IBM RS6000 with 8 processors, 9G of memory with
AIX 4.3.3.
