HiYa

just playin with an instance, where I have 4 databases, pbdb DEV UA and PROD in the dbora file only one has Y on it, but yet after loading (when I watch the output from a warm start) I notice that I can still get to all of these databases from SQLPlus by just resetting my SID in Unix, or from win2000 I can get at all databases without starting them.

is this normal?

reading the Oracle 8i it seems to indicate that only the one started should be available, and the others not.

Since I am trying to learn about this stuff, am I doning something right by accident, or is this normal behaviour?

See Ya
