Ah... *That* sort of install is indeed possible (got to admit: never done it myself). An unintended install is allegedly do-able by using a response file.

On Unix, you do:

runInstaller -responsefile <name_of_file>

If your response file is comprehensive enough, there's no need for you to remain at the machine at all. But that doesn't make it a 'command line' install -it's still (albeit unattended) GUI.

What (and how) you put in the responsefile, I haven't looked in to. But now you know it's called a response file, maybe technet.oracle.com can be searched for those two keywords, and see what it turns up.
