I am looking for information comparing handling of Time Series data by Oracle and Informix. On the surface both seem to offer similar facilities in the way time series information is handled in tables, and Oracle is my organisations most commonly used DB. However, from the scant information I've read, it would appear that the Informix Datablade implementation is technically superior in its physical storage mechanisms for time series data, and also in its ability to allow performant manipulation of such data by actually embedding code in the server to do so.

Can anyone point me in the direction of any more (preferably impartial) information. I'd be particularly interested in any performance comparisons.

TIA Gary. Received on Tue Jan 15 2002 - 11:58:46 CST
