Don,

I think most will agree that the most stable Oracle version out there at the moment is 8.1.7.1 this is the version that Oracle Apps 11.5.5 runs.

As a rule it seems to be that:

  1. Oracle release a server version
  2. The Apps group adopt that version and release an interoperability patch
  3. Load of database bugs are found by customers
  4. The server group release a point release which works with apps.

I always prefer to use the version which oracle apps *works* on, in the case of V7 that was 7.3.4, for 8i it was 8.1.7.1 and I think for 9i we are yet to see it (but it probably will be 9.1 .

My thoughts would be that the upgrade to 8i would yeld great benefits, but 9i might show up bugs which would be slow to fix.

Just an idea

James
