If it is not working when you do a "set role none;" before but it is working if you omit this command then you can be pretty sure that you got your access rights via a role. The setrolenone disables all roles and revokes all grants from the session.

I guess there is a coincidence in the addition of TAX_WEIGHT and an unnoticed change in your access rights.
