8.1.5 was never even certified for Windows 2000, let alone XP.

8.1.6 was the first version with W2K certification, and this was a known bug even then. 8.1.6.3 fixed it (I believe), but since that is also now a desupported version, the best advice I can offer is to move on up to 8.1.7 or later. Even 8.1.7 is not vertified for Xp, however (though it works just fine), so the 'official' advice would be, I guess, to migrate to 9i (which is).
