A slight correction.

Linux is a kernel. There are very few variations of it. (Besides the various options that can be chosen.)

An operation system based on a linux kernel and a Un*x structure is called a "Distribution". Thus, Debian calls it GNU/Linux because the actual tools are GNU.

You should have better said:

Which is the purpose of the Linux Standard Base, but that's another story.
