Oracle Standard Edition on how many CPU's? e4500->other sun machine?

Has anybody considered moving down from enterprise edition to standard?

We have 10CPUx400Mhz 4500's, and Oracle is giving me cr_at_p about running standard edition on more then 4 cpus (is it 4 or less or 3 or less)..

Since I have multiple DB's running on each server (3 on one, 8 on the other), I am thinking on moving down to 4 machines running @4CPUs, but newer machines, like sunfire v880, which come w/ UltraSPARC III processors @750Mhz

Currently the systems are clustered (Veritas), and I'd have to cluster the new servers as well.. Obviously there are going to be other problems, like partitioning storage properly, since I currently have 3x5200's, and Sun doesn't like when you have too many fibre cables going thru sunfibre hub. (i'll obviously have to upgrade to a 16 port fibre hub or something)

Thoughts?

Thnx.

Thnx.

We use Oracle 8.1.6-8.1.7 on Solaris 2.6, 2.7 boxes
