It looks like there is no such thing as 'Linux'. It comes in endless variations of versions and libraries. Obviously, windoze is windoze, and Solaris is Solaris. That doesn't apply to Linux.

Also you obviously make some common errors - you fail to mention which exact version of Linux you are using - you fail to mention whether you checked the product is actually certified against your specific version of the O/S - you probably didn't check this newsgroup archives at http://groups.google.com

Please note people have been able to install Oracle successfully. Please also note it is very difficult to help you out when you only start to blame the vendor, without giving any details.
