Hi Gaby,

in NT environments files are locked by the first process which opens the file.
In your case, another process opened your controlfile. This can be an editor or (hopefully not!) another oracle database process (may be from "hanging" database and no proper restart?).
Please check your process list using the taskmanager for processes looking a bit suspicious...

To get it shure, that no other process uses your controlfile, reboot your system and start Oracle again.
