In addition, if you PC has a Pentium 4 it would need the patched Oracle Installer to even attempt to work.search the comp.databases.oracle.* newsgroups in Google for 'Pentium 4' for more info...( 8.1.7 may not be certified for XP but it is certified for W2K and could work...)
