Red Hat Linux and Oracle

I installed RedHat Linux 7.2 and I wanted to know if any other patches need to be applied after installing 8.1.7 database....
Why is that my system goes to a suspend mode after 15 minutes at which point I cannot even rlogin/ telnet??
Does RedHat Linux 7.0 support 8.1.7... I did not quite see any document in otn on that?

Waiting for a response..shall accept it as a go-ahead for installing the database....
