Database starting problem

Hi,



    I am using windows 2000 server and install the oracle 8.1.6.3 ! Now i
have gotten a problem of starting the database ! When i start up the server,
the oracle database starts automatically. However, i don't know why the
status is always "starting" ! Please help too !
