There is an important distinction between pedantry and precision - many of the errors and misunderstandings regarding Oracle database activity are due to lack of precision, in particular fully qualified statements. I stand duly corrected.

Another list for the FAQ, perhaps - top 10 (20, 100) reasons where a plan with a higher cost can run faster than a plan with a lower cost.
