SQL*Loader with Direct Path

Dear all,

I've found from the Oracle manual that Direct Path can only be used with both SQL*Loader version and database version must be the same. However, I found that I cannot use Direct Path option when I tried to load data from a Windows client to a database running on a RS/6000 machine, both client version and database version are 8.1.7 (but the server is a 64-bit version). Can anyone clarify if the Direct Path is also restricted by the operating system ?
