data dictionary error

I get "ORA-04045: errors during recompilation/revalidation of SYS.ALL_ALL_TABLES ORA-00904 invalid column error" when I do 'select * from all_all_tables' and most of the other data dictionary tables. I ran catalog.sql and catproc.sql. still no help. But when I do 'select * from <specfic_user_table> it works. I tried to export and then re-create the db but while exporting it gave the following error:

Connected to: Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production
EXP-00037: Export views not compatible with database version EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully

Is there a way to get around to these problems?
