Yeah, but what are they doing?
And how many processes are there in total connected to ORACLE? Are they batch processes or on-line connections?

Try to get some information from V$SQLAREA. There, you can see for each SQL being executed and/or cached, the statistics of logical and physical disk reads, rows changed, number of executions, etc. Usually, this sort of thing means a statement without any optimisation being hit heaps of times by everybody.
