Shared nothing cluster on W2k/NT?

Hi!
Is it possible to set up a shared nothing cluster with 9i's RAC feature (or some other software)?
In a scenario where the clients only read from the database a shared storage would be obsolete since data integrity isn't an issue. Each node could host an Oracle instance. (Daily) Updates would go to one node and 'Replication' could do the rest.
All RAC (or any other software that you might know) would have to do is to make the 'cluster' available as one Oracle server and care about the load balancing.

Wouldn't this make up for a cheap, low-end cluster solution?

Thank you for your response,
