Hi Marc,

I'm very frustrated. I have exactly the same problem, for weeks now. Did Sybrand's solution help? I tried it but starting 'svrmgrl' gave me a ora-12560. Connect as dba then gives me an ora-12560. Starting as a non-existent user gives me an ora-12560. Carrying on again as dba, I get the message "MGR-00310" cannot open parameter file <path>\INIT<database name>. This seems to be logical since it hasn't been created. I guess I will carry on trying, somebody must have solved it. I do find it rather puzzling since I select only Oracle default values when installing.
