Michael,
according to Metalink, Oracle 9i is certified for SuSE 7.1, SuSE 7.2 and Red Hat 7.1.
As Hans Erik Busk wrote in another post, SuSE is much "closer" to Oracle than RedHat, so if you choose SuSE you should have less problems and more support, tips, etc.
If you are going to use SuSE in a production environment I would suggest you to buy SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 7. It's a new product specifically tailored for server environments, and Oracle certification is in progress.
