Hello,

I'm looking at creating an ORACLE version of an application and downloaded and installed Personal 8.1.7 without any (apparent) problem.

When the OUI tries to create the default database or when I try to create one with the Configuration Assistant, I get the blue screen of death with an error that relates to IFSMGR.VXD (01) and VMM(01).

I've checked on the MS KB and found the error description relating to DOS Device Names and installed the update. IFSMGR.VXD is now updated to .2223. This seems to make no difference and I still cannot create a database. After I reboot, the driectory structure for the failed db is present but there is no SID info in the registry and I cannot open the db.

Help would be appreciated. Thanks
