Just want to confirm this. Suppose you installed Oracle server on your
own PC. You can tnsping prod, where prod is your local tnsnames.ora
entry pointing to your production database located remotely. Not only
that, but you can also lsnrctl status prod. And even this: lsnrctl
stop prod, unless the listener for your prod database is password
protected. Oracle Support told me this is the expected behavior. The
solution is simply password-protect the production server listener.
