Hi Jim - Thanks for your comments. In fact it was going to be hard to put the two machines on the same network (well in the case of one of them, any network !) but I did try run the EXP.EXE off the 8.1.6 on the 8.1.7 machine and then using the resulting DMP on the 8.1.6 and everything seems to have worked fine.
