The specifics are that a 7 version *earlier* than 7.3.4 must be upgraded to 7.3.4 before attempting to migrate to 9.0.1.

Likewise, a version 8 earlier than 8.0.6 must be upgraded to 8.0.6 before the 9i migration can take place.

All 8i versions can be upgraded to 9i without a problem
