One possible reason for have more than one DB on a server is to have PRODUCTION database and a DEVELOPMENT database.

I have one small Solaris system that has FOUR separate Oracle DB's on it. Each supports its own application, such as HR, Problem Ticket tracking, etc. None of these application gets a large number of concurrent users and does not justify getting a system of their own. FWIW - this system supports V7.3.4.0, V8.1.6, V8.1.7 , & V9.0.1 because each application has its own support & upgrade path. Received on Thu Sep 20 2001 - 19:56:49 CDT
