You may be encountering bug 1397603 if you are on 8.1.7.0. The fix is in 8.1.7.2 and AFAIK is available on Solaris. To verify run the following query perodically. If the result is gradually increasing, you're encountering 1397603. This query must be run as SYS.

select count(*) from x$ksmsp where ksmchcls = 'perm';
