hi all

when creating a database link in a 8.1.7 oracle database to another 8.1.7 database, i'm able to read data from the other database using sql*net (after setting the correct NLS parameters, i've put them to the registry, NLS_LANG=..., additionally stored as environment variables)

the data to the other database is accessed with a defined view. there isn't any problem using sql*net. when i'm trying to connect to the database using a odbc driver, the data can be read without any problems, but i'm not able to read data with the view (using the database link) - reading the view i'll get the 12705 error. is odbc using different nls settings?

thanx for any hints
-thomas
