How big is your database? and how many users? What are they doing?

I have a 600GB NT 4/Oracle 8.0.5 database that runs adequately in 1GB of memory.

To be honest, I have been doing databses for a long time. I am still getting used to the idea of 10 digit SGAs (but I have a couple.)
