OCI / SQL*Net / Net8 in 9i?

Anyone have any developer feedback re: the 9i version of OCI?

Also, do they have any plans to desupport the 7.x or 8.0.x versions of OCI? I'm assuming that it would be in conjuction with the desupport of a particular database version.
