Hi there,

if you've got a nasty ORA-03113 during startup/creation of an instance/database on a linux-system then maybe some of the parameters in your initSID.ora file are wrong.

I've got the following configuration:

Oracle 9.0.1 with an entry "IFILE=<other parameter file>" in my initSID.ora file in my dbs Directory.

I was sitting around to get away the nasty ORA-03113 error with no more explanation and found no way to resolve it. At lease I tried to enter startup pfile=_parth_to_other_parameter_file directly. Then SQLPLUS told me what parameter is wrong. I've changed the parameter to the correct value -> Problem solved.

This is just a little hint if you may have got the same problems in the future.
