How often should we analyze several large tables.

Hi,


 everybody. i just migrated oracle 7.3.2 to oracle 8.1.6. i found in an old
box, after a large batch job every day, it did a analyze table for several
large tables (1 table over 36million rows)
for example:


analyze table rtu_data estimate statistics sample 10 percent ?



is it necessary? if not , how often should i do?
