Yes and no.

No, there are no such thing as Unix pipes in NT. The closest (with my experimenting with the Win32 API) seems to be memory file maps.. but these does not give "normal" file handles and can not be used like we use Unix fifo pipes.

Yes, there should be a standard compress command line program, called COMPRESS.EXE. Not sure if it installs in the NT command directory, but you will find a copy of that on your installation CD. There should also be a program called UNCOMPRESS.EXE on the CD. These are the standard Microsoft software for creating .CAB files when making installation software. I usually just copy them across from the CD.
