Hi

two machines

  1. dual piii 500, 2gb ram, redhat 7.1 standard - 2.4.2-2smp, Oracle 8.1.7.0
  2. dual pii 450, less than 2gb ram, NT 4.0 sp5, Oracle 8.1.7.3

both machines running fine for a couple of months, importing the same database each, each night. Generally, the Linux server slightly faster than the NT one.

Then all of a sudden (without any changes to the machine as far as one can tell), the Linux server just started taking 2 or 3 hours extra. No Oracle errors, minimal Linux errors, ones of note:

These errors may not be relevant at all.

So I applied Oracle's suggested kernel tweaks, but made no difference at all.

Maybe there's a problem with Oracle on Linux past a certain database size. Perhaps there's a bunch of Oracle and/or Linux tweaks that can be applied? who knows.

If this rings a bell to any Oracle or RH guru, or if you have any suggestions help would be appreciated thanks muchly Received on Wed Aug 15 2001 - 11:01:34 CDT
