We had problems with ORA-0600 when we used the 8.1.7 Thin drivers against
a 9i database. You can use the 8.1.7.1b (Solaris) or the equivalent 8.1.7.(2 or 3) (NT). Alternatively the 9.0.1 JDBC Thin drivers worked fine for us.
