Jim,

You might want to consider setting up a dbms_job to switch your logfiles more frequently.
I would not recommend having 2 days worth of redo in one redolog file. General opinion that I have boserved would indicate that a redo log switch every hour would most likely balance the overhead of log switches (checkpoint) against the loss of data should the online redo log become unavailble.

just a thought.
