obtaining ddl from a binary dump file

does anyone know of any scripts (unix, specifically Solaris 2.7) that will read an Oracle export dmp file 
(binary) and obtain the table/index ddl (specifically for partitioned objects), and where i can get them?

ps. --> personally i would just use import to get the ddl but some other dba's prefer to just get it from 
the dmp file (go figure?).
